Created in 2012, Open City has been the unofficial kick-off to the summer season for amazing local shops and restaurants throughout Halifax and Dartmouth. For 2020, Develop Nova Scotia rebranded the event as Re-Open City, as the COVID-19 pandemic made the messaging of supporting community and rejuvenating the local economy more important than ever. The rebrand involved the creation of a new identity that could be used across a variety of digital and printed promotional materials, as well as storefront signage and a short animation for social media. The custom-illustrated background featured the iconic Citadel Clock Tower which has been a consistent visual element from previous campaign graphics.
